Back in August 2000, I wrote a song called Far Beyond the Stars. In my mind, it was an epic piece — the kind of music I could imagine being performed by a full orchestra. Of course, that was never going to happen. I didn’t have access to an orchestra, a professional studio, or the resources needed to bring it to life the way I imagined it.
So the song sat on my hard drive for years, in Tracker/Module format. I was proud of it, but it never quite sounded the way it did in my head.
Fast forward 26 years, and technology has come a long way. New AI tools have finally allowed me to realise the sound I’d always imagined. Some may call it cheating, but every note, melody, and musical idea is present and still my own. To me, this is simply the closest I’ll ever get to hearing the song as I originally envisioned it all those years ago.
Anyway, here’s Far Beyond the Stars. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I’ve enjoyed finally hearing it brought to life.
