Michelle and I have always been pretty easy-going when it comes to what films the kids can watch. That said, there are a few titles where I’ve had to put my foot down and say, “Absolutely not until you are much older.”
The Hellraiser films have always been on that list. Well… mainly the first three. The rest are a bit questionable — maybe with the exception of the fourth, although that one does go all weird when it sends the Hell Priest (aka Pinhead) off into space – a strange move. Anyway, I digress…
After years of me saying no because they’re “too gory” (and because I’m convinced they’re now old enough, even if the BBFC might disagree), Kayleigh finally asked again to watch the original Hellraiser. So tonight, I gave in.
Her reaction? Not what she was expecting. She genuinely thought it would be gorier (seriously?!). But she loved it — and we’re now planning Hellbound: Hellraiser II for next week.
That’s my girl. Good taste in movies clearly runs in the family. 😈🎬
