Now here’s a fantastic feel-good song from 40 years ago (yes – I feel old) that really deserved to do so much better when it was originally released back in September 1986.
“One Great Thing” by Scottish band Big Country entered the UK charts at number 27 on Sunday 14th September 1986, climbing to a peak of number 19 the following week before gradually slipping back down the chart over the weeks that followed.
Released as the third single from their third studio album, The Seer, this is one of those songs I love putting on whenever I’m feeling a bit down. It’s upbeat, uplifting and an almost guaranteed toe-tapper.
