Now That’s What I Call Stuart’s Favourite Music 94 –  Mark Shreeve – Storm Column

Here’s a gem of a track from Great Yarmouth’s very own electronic and synth legend, Mark Shreeve.

Mark who, you ask? Don’t worry — you’re not alone! I hadn’t heard of him either until I stumbled across “Storm Column” about sixteen years ago.

Fun fact: Shreeve actually co-wrote Samantha Fox’s 1980s hit “Touch Me (I Want Your Body)”, and even worked alongside Christopher Franke from Tangerine Dream.

“Storm Column” comes from his 1985 album Legion, which I only discovered by accident while watching a random YouTube video that happened to use the track in the background. Sadly, the album didn’t make much of a splash when it was released — but that’s a real shame, because it’s packed with some fantastic tracks that any fan of classic electronic instrumental music will absolutely love.

Tragically, Mark passed away in 2022 at just 65. But his legacy — and his incredible talent of using analogue synths and sequencers — continues to inspire anyone who appreciates the magic of electronic music, myself included.
