I first discovered Jon Anderson through his guest vocals on Mike Oldfield’s Crisis album, and I have to admit, it was many years later when I realised he was also the lead singer of the legendary progressive rock band Yes!
I’ll Find My Way Home is a beautiful collaboration between Jon Anderson and the renowned electronic composer Vangelis. Written by Anderson and performed by the duo, it was released in November 1981 as the second single from their album The Friends of Mr Cairo.
The song entered the UK charts at number 46 on 12th December 1981 and steadily climbed to its peak position of number 6 on 23rd January 1982.
With Vangelis’s lush, emotive synth work and Anderson’s distinctive vocals, I’ll Find My Way Home remains one of my all-time favourite tracks of the 80s.
