Driller and Dark Side

I’ve always had a deep love for the classic Freescape 3D games by Incentive Software. Those big, glossy boxes with their striking artwork felt like gateways into fantastic new worlds, waiting to be explored on my computer. They really were years ahead of their time. It’s this kind of artwork that I miss on recent game boxes.

Dark Side originally came with a big poster – and yes, I proudly had it on my wall when I was younger! Sadly, at some point it must have been thrown out, so I was really pleased to spot someone selling the game on eBay, complete with the poster. It had held up pretty well, but as you’d expect from something nearly 40 years old, the creases were definitely showing their age. So, I decided to give it a little TLC in Photoshop.

Driller, on the other hand, never came with a poster, but it did include a lovely glossy instruction booklet. Luckily, I still had that, so I scanned it in at high resolution and gave it a bit of a digital polish too.

I think they came out OK…
