Now That’s What I Call Stuart’s Favourite Music 93 –  Jan Hammer – Forever Tonight

Forever Tonight is a track by Jan Hammer from his album Escape From Television, released in 1987. The album features a collection of instrumental pieces used in the iconic 1980s American crime series Miami Vice. Oddly enough, when the album was first released, Forever Tonight hadn’t yet appeared in the show—it wouldn’t make its on-screen debut until later that year when it would also be released as a single.

Although Forever Tonight didn’t make the charts, it still gained some radio play. I remember it clearly—it was the very first track on a mixtape I recorded straight from the radio, followed (rather memorably) by The Firm’s Star Trekkin’. But that’s a song for another time.

So, slip on your sockless loafers, throw on your white Armani jacket and trousers, fire up the Ferrari Testarossa, and crank up the volume. Time to hit the neon-soaked streets of Miami with this classic blasting from the speakers.
