Now That’s What I Call Stuart’s Favourite Music 91 –  Mike Oldfield – Turtle Island

Mike Oldfield’s Tr3s Lunas (stylised as Tres Lunas), released in 2002 is, in my opinion, one of his most underrated albums. It deserved far more recognition than it received. While two singles were released — “To Be Free” and “Thou Art in Heaven” — both strong in their own right, it’s the album track “Turtle Island” that stands out most for me.

A beautifully gentle, melodic chill-out piece, Turtle Island instantly takes me back to our honeymoon in Rhodes in 2003. I used the Tr3s Lunas album as the soundtrack to a video and photo montage I created from that trip — and to this day, the music brings those memories rushing back.

Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and let Turtle Island carry you away to a sun-drenched, secluded beach where stress and worry simply don’t exist.
